Bedtime

Blog Day 202                 Thursday             June 21, 2012
“Bedtime!”
Day 202)
Our daily lives are filled with so much stress. We have so much to do and so many to do for. With work and our home lives, it is almost impossible to get everything done in one day. What happens is that we put off giving our bodies what they need so that we can complete our tasks. We skip meals or eat fast food on the run or simply replace meals by turning coffee or sodas into a meal replacement. Now it is holiday time and the stressors have increased and so has the neglecting of our bodies. One of the most common mistakes that we make at holiday time is that we will forfeit sleep in order to get things done. “GO TO BED! “ is the best advice I can give you. Studies by the University of Chicago Medical Center have shown that a lack of sleep reduces the capacity to perform basic metabolic functions such as processing and storing carbohydrates or regulating hormone secretion.  Studies have also shown that sleep deprivation also effects brain function and behavior.  So in essence a lack of sleep will shut down your body.  So go to bed! Get some rest.

“Summer lovin”

Blog Day 201                 Wednesday        June 20,2012
“Summer lovin”

Day 19)
With summer here and in full effect it is important to stay on top of your health and skin care. Here are a couple of tips on giving your body some “summer lovin”.  As you spend more time outdoors having fun in the sun and your body is more exposed to the elements, it is important to stay properly hydrated. Drink lots of fluids and make healthy meal choices. Limit your sugar intake as well as your alcohol consumption. Too many sugary drinks and treats can make you sluggish and increase fatigue. Alcohol if not used responsibly can impair your judgment, but it also causes dehydration.
So be sure to keep your body and skin hydrated. Opal Hue has all the natural products that you will need to take proper care of your skin.

Weekend Overview

Blog Day 196-200      Tuesday        June 19, 2012
                                           Weekend overview
Day 200)
For years we have been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. There is some truth to that. Two thirds of American adults and adolescents are overweight or obese. Studies have shown that skipping meals is a contributing factor to weight gain. According to these studies people who skip meals especially breakfast tend to consume more food throughout the day than those who eat a well balanced breakfast. The percentage of people who skip breakfast increased from 14 to 25 % from 1965 to 1991. A lack of time is a major contributor to meal skipping. Here is a hint that might help you start the day with a well balanced breakfast.  Prepare your breakfast the night before, refrigerate it and have it in the morning. If you find it a struggle, I suggest packing it and have it at work. By doing this you will also avoid the pitfalls of a fast food breakfast.
Make it a priority in the morning. So go for it! Enjoy your and sweets, in moderation of course.  Make healthy choices. Don’t forget your water and your brisk walk. You will feel the difference.

“Work it out”

Blog Day 196               Thursday               June 14, 2011
“Work it out”
Day 196)
The small changes that you make today will have a huge impact on your body tomorrow and can help you to look great this summer. Changes as minor as modifying your daily eating routine and increasing your water intake will keep you from gaining unwanted weight. The most common mistakes made during summer time is that we become lax. Here is a hint that will help you…just work it out. Increase your daily activity! You don’t have to get to the gym or run five miles a day. You can increase your activity simply by setting aside a few minutes a day during your lunch hour to take a short brisk walk. Get your heart rate going and your blood pumping. Getting physical will also help you with your water intake. So have your sweet treat, in moderation of course. Have a refreshing glass of water and a brisk walk. You will feel the difference.

“Small changes…big results!”

Blog Day 195                 Wednesday        June 13, 2012
 “Small changes…big results!”
Day 195)
I hate that being on a diet and I am sure most people do too. The feeling of deprivation even alters our personalities. You go from being a mild mannered and even tempered person to a grumpy, mean person whose head might begin to spin at the thought of not having that sugary afternoon snack. I want to give you a helpful hint that has helped me in my weight loss and maintenance journey. Make it a point to write down everything that you eat in the course of your week. Every breakfast, lunch and dinner and don’t forget your snacks.
Now the point is not to beat you up for the choices that you make, but to help you find areas where you can make better choices.  You will see if you make small changes you will have big results. You have nothing to loose but weight and bad habits.
Order online now at www.opalhue.com or if you are in the Denver metro area come and visit our new outlet store located at The Mile High Market Place Fridays – Sundays  10 am to 5 pm #L-42.
