Our
daily lives are filled with so much stress. We have so much to do and so many
to do for. With work and our home lives, it is almost impossible to get
everything done in one day. What happens is that we put off giving our bodies
what they need so that we can complete our tasks. We skip meals or eat fast
food on the run or simply replace meals by turning coffee or sodas into a meal
replacement. Now it is summer time and there is lots of fun in the sun to be
had. With more environmental exposure stressors have increased so now is not
the time to neglecting of our bodies. One of the most common mistakes that we
make at summer time is that we will forfeit sleep because of our busy social
schedules. “GO TO BED! “ is the best advice I can give you. Studies by the University
of Chicago Medical Center have shown that a lack of sleep reduces the capacity
to perform basic metabolic functions such as processing and storing
carbohydrates or regulating hormone secretion.
Studies have also shown that sleep deprivation also effects brain
function and behavior. So in essence a
lack of sleep will shut down your body. So
take a long hot bath and go to bed!
