“Hit me baby one more time!”

Blog Day 234                 Tuesday               July 24, 2012
“Hit me baby one more time!”
Day 234)
Hit me baby one more time…the snooze button that is. Can you relate to that?  We have so much to do and so many to do for. With work and our home lives, it is almost impossible to get everything done in one day. What happens is that we put off giving our bodies what they need so that we can complete our tasks. We skip meals or eat fast food on the run or simply replace meals by turning coffee or sodas into a meal replacement. Now the stressors have begun and so has the neglecting of our bodies. The most common mistakes that we make is that we will forfeit sleep in order to get things done and see the kids off to where they need to be.  The best advice I can give you is to STOP and GET SOME REST!  Studies by the University of Chicago Medical Center have shown that a lack of sleep reduces the capacity to perform basic metabolic functions such as processing and storing carbohydrates or regulating hormone secretion.  Studies have also shown that sleep deprivation also effects brain function and behavior.  So in essence a lack of sleep will shut down your body.  So go to bed! Get some rest. Your body will thank you for it!

If you are going to spend time out in the heat with your children be sure to keep them hydrated and properly protected. Keep them cool and give then lots of liquids. “So random!”

Blog Day 222                    Thursday                          July 12, 2011
 “So random!”
Day 222)
Have you ever witnessed someone doing a random act of kindness? Something as simple as buying lunch for someone you don’t know, paying a grocery bill or even giving a homeless person a bit of change and a meal. What you may not realize is that performing random acts of kindness are actually good for your health.  Scientific studies done by Dr, Wayne Dyer, author of the book the Power of Intention, show that a single act of kindness increase serotonin levels and strengthens the immune system. Serotonin gives a feeling of happiness and being at ease. These studies have also shown that a single act of kindness not only affects the giver and the recipient, but it also affects bystanders who witness the acts of kindness in the same way. So imagine how many people can be affected by a single act of kindness.  Be the one to make an impact and show the love! It is good for your health. You can do it! We believe in you!
