Summer is only half way through, but the heat is showing no signs of letting up. It is so hot that a large part of the country is on fire and experiencing drought.  With that in mind it is important to protect yourself and the people you love from the heat. Heat stroke is a common occurrence when have record temperatures. Heat strokes are also the most serious of all heat related injuries, requiring immediate medical attention. Here are some symptoms that will help you identify a heat stroke: nausea, throbbing headache, dizziness and light headedness. Lack of sweating despite the heat. Red, hot, and dry skin. Muscle weakness or cramps, Nausea and vomiting. Rapid heartbeat, which may be either strong or weak. Rapid, shallow breathing. Behavioral changes such as confusion, disorientation, or staggering. Seizures and unconsciousness. If you or someone you know is experiencing any of these symptoms seek immediate medical attention. Enjoy your summer and be safe!
